HELP FOR ADULTS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES

Learning disabilities affect adults as well as children.  For many adults, however, difficulties in learning lead to difficulties in employment, education, and the rest of daily life.

CONNECTICUT AGENCIES

The following agencies, located in Connecticut, can help adults with learning disabilities begin to find assistance by having an assessment conducted by qualified professionals:

LITERACY EDUCATION

Literacy programs such as Literacy Volunteers of America often require an adult with a learning disability to provide legal documentation of the learning disability. This documentation should include a diagnosis by a qualified professional, a description of the disabilities’ impact on the individual’s functioning, and recommendations for specific accommodations.
